Mistfall Hunter Otto Boss Guide: Attacks & Strategy

A Mistfall Hunter Otto the Flesheater boss guide — every attack pattern, phase 2 changes, and the exact gear tier you need to solo this tough Mist Lord.

Otto the Flesheater is a large, deer-like Mist Lord and one of the more approachable boss fights in Mistfall Hunter — one solo build guide specifically calls him the easiest of the game’s three named bosses to learn. This guide covers his attack patterns and the recommended gear for taking him on solo.

Phase 1: Learning the Patterns

Otto opens with a hand-stomp move that doesn’t deal damage until he’s fully stood up, giving you a safe window to back off first. His jump attack has at least two variations — one version stomps the ground and summons three straight damage lines with gaps between them; hugging in diagonally in front of him is the safest way through. When he shouts with his arms open, that’s a free damage window with no counter-attack. His charge attack is a timing check: dodge to whichever side you’re closer to as he closes the distance. His side-sweep attacks can be punished by dodging back first, then dodging back in once you’re confident in the timing. His rock-throw attack can be dodged by moving in close, which also sets up a stagger — hitting his head during a stagger window deals bonus damage.

Phase 2: The Enraged State

Around half health (roughly 25-50% HP depending on how quickly you’re clearing him), Otto enters a more aggressive state where his moves scale up — his rock throws add fire damage to the ground, and the longer the fight drags on, the more extra hazards he adds. His signature phase-2 move opens both arms and goes fully red; when this happens, expect to be dodging continuously for an extended sequence rather than looking for a single dodge window. A separate red-glow attack summons a spread of fireballs in front of him — circling to his left while dodging is the recommended way to both avoid the fireballs and keep landing hits.

Gear and Approach

Otto (like the other Mist Lords) needs at least blue-tier gear for a realistic Normal-mode clear, and Chaos mode difficulty is described as requiring blue gear at minimum to avoid dying. One solo build guide recommends Elusive, Fervor, and Valor as top affix priorities regardless of class, since all three boost damage output or survivability in a fight that rewards killing the boss quickly before it reaches its enraged state.

TL;DR

Learn to hug diagonally into Otto’s jump-stomp lines, punish his shout and rock-throw with free damage, and dodge his charge based on which side you’re standing on. Once he goes red in phase 2, prioritize continuous dodging over trying to squeeze in extra hits — his enraged moveset punishes greed. Blue gear plus an Elusive/Fervor/Valor affix priority is enough to solo him consistently.
